Research Scientist position on Machine Learning (Operations Research)
The Network and Traffic Optimization research team of the Mathematical and Algorithmic Sciences Lab, Huawei France Research Center, located in the Paris area, is looking for candidates for a permanent research position on Operations Research to commence by the end of the year. The research will focus on developing algorithms and novel network analysis and decision schemes to drive research and innovation in the context of advanced traffic engineering. The successful candidate will be involved in the development of competitive solutions Intelligent Network Management systems.

Major Responsibilities:

-ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Responsible for theory exploration, advanced algorithm design, analysis, and performance evaluation to meet challenging business requirements.

-ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Analyze business requirements and follow technology evolutions

-ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Collaborate with other units to ensure the successful exploitation of research outputs.

-ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Generation of intellectual property through the patenting of ideas. Propose and publish research in major research publications worldwide.

-ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Create and maintain strong collaborative associations with university-based researchers, other leading research bodies, business units and government agencies.

Required Degree : PhD Experience: 0-5 years English : Operational

Specific Requirements:

Candidates must have a strong background in Operations Research in the context on Machine Learning and experience on network related problems. In addition, the following skills and experiences are highly desirable:

-ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý PhD Degree in Applied Mathematics or Computer Science

-ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Solid background on discrete optimization theory, combinatorial optimization and robust methods

-ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Good knowledge on linear programming (e.g., b&b, pricing, decomposition methods)

-ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Experience in the design of exact and approximation algorithms to solve network problems.

-ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Knowledge on optimization under uncertainty (e.g., robust, stochastic programming)

-ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Familiarity with machine learning methods (supervised, unsupervised, reinforcement)

-ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Solid experience with optimization tools (CPLEX, Gurobi, Coin-OR, Xpress, Matlab)

-ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Proficiency with low-level development languages (C/C++).

-ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Familiarity with machine learning software tools (R, Sage, SciPy, Matlab) will be a plus.

-ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Solid theoretical experience and a good publication record in operations research.
