. The Selmer Centre consists of 5 full professors, 1 associate professor, and approximately 15 researchers, postdoctoral fellows, and PhD students.

The postdoctoral fellow will work on the project "Studies on Codes for Error Detection", financed by the Norwegian Research Council for the period 2009 to 2012. In all there will be two postdoctoral researchers and one PhD student working on the project. The main aims of the project are to investigate a number of open problems on codes for error detection, such as the existence of proper codes, optimal codes, worst case codes. The candidate should ideally have a background in coding theory.

The scientific work of the Department for Informatics is organized in six research groups: one on algorithms, one on bioinformatics, one on optimization, one on programming theory, one on secure and reliable communication (Selmer Centre), and one on visualization. 20 professors / associate professors work at the department as well as 5 adjunct professors, about 50 PhD students, 15 postdoctoral researchers, and a supporting staff of eight.
