We are looking for a post-doctoral researcher with a background in information theory for communication systems and ideally also on machine learning.

The post is funded by the European Research Council (ERC) for a period of 24 months, which can be extended by two additional years. The post-holder will work, in collaboration with the Principal Investigator (Professor Osvaldo Simeone), on an ERC-funded project on fog communication, computing and storage. The main goal of the project is the development of fundamental theoretical insights, via network information theory, communication theory and machine learning, on the optimal performance and operation of fog-aided wireless networks.

The post will be based in the Centre for Telecommunications research, Department of Informatics at the Strand campus of King's, located in the centre of London. In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, Informatics at King's was rated as having 92% of its research outputs as world leading or internationally excellent. The 2014 REF results placed the Department in the Top 10 of Computer Science and Informatics departments in the UK, when measured by the Power Ranking.

The successful candidate should have a PhD in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering with expertise in information theory and ideally in machine learning. She/he should also meet the following criteria:
- PhD in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline with focus on information theory.
- Track record of high quality research publications in peer reviewed conferences and journals.
- Effective communication (oral and written) skills.
- Experience of presenting research to both academic and industrial audiences.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team on research programmes.

The selection process will include a panel interview.
