The Bit Player Screens November 3 at MIT in Cambridge
Join us for the latest screening of the The Bit Player, the first feature film about Claude Shannon. The 鶹ýӳ Information Theory Society has helped to produce this film, which combines interviews with leading scientists, archival film, inventive animation and compelling commentary from Shannon himself to tell the story of an overlooked genius who revolutionized the world, but never lost his childlike curiosity. Mark Levinson, director of the award-winning film Particle Fever, wrote, produced and directed The Bit Player.

Over the summer, screened to fullhouses at two showings inCalifornia. It has recently played to enthusiastic audiences at film festivals in Paris,Switzerland and the CzechRepublic, and is now being shown at special screenings around the U.S. In its Boston premiere, Claude Shannon will come “home” for a special screening at , Room 100 on Sunday, November 3. The screening begins at 2:00 pm. Following the movie, there will beapanel discussion with director Mark Levinson, Prof. Robert Gallager (MIT) and Prof. Andrea Goldsmith (Stanford University). Presented by the Laboratory for Information and Decision Systems (LIDS) at MIT.
