The 12th SEquences and Their Applications (SETA-2024) conference () was successfully held from 1 July to 5 July 2024 at the Colchester campus of the University of Essex. Over 40 scholars from Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong (SAR of China), India, Italy, Korea, Norway, Spain, Turkey, the UK, and the USA attended this conference. It featured 23 excellent paper presentations, 5 keynote talks (by Pingzhi Fan, Christos Masouros, Sihem Mesnager, Steven Wang, and Nam Yul Yu), and 2 featured talks (by Wai Ho Mow and Pantelimon Stanica) covering the latest advances in sequences for communications, sensing, and cryptography.

A panel discussion took place on 4 July, consisting of four outstanding panel members: Pingzhi Fan (Southwest Jiaotong University), Guang Gong (University of Waterloo), Tor Helleseth (University of Bergen), and Christos Masouros (University College of London). Led by Chunlei Li (University of Bergen) and Zilong Liu (University of Essex), the panel brainstormed the challenges and opportunities for next-generation sequences and agreed that the best time for sequences is yet to come. Some actions (e.g., an Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Special Interest Group on Sequences, survey papers on recent sequence works) for further bridging the gap between mathematicians and engineers will be taken.
